The Brno University of Technology offers technical and science education, as well as specialties in architecture, art and economics.
In 1899, the Austrian emperor and king of Hungary, Franz Joseph I, signed a decree establishing the Technical University in the Czech city of Brno. It was the first Czech university in Moravia. Starting with four professors and 47 students, the university has gradually become an internationally recognized educational institution that offers modern advanced scientific knowledge in eight faculties.
